Practice Nurses & Health Care Assistants
Morning and afternoon surgeries are held by appointment. The nurses carry out a full range of treatments including, amongst other things, the dressing of wounds, treating injuries, immunisations, holiday injections and advice, and a variety of other treatments.
In addition, they run special clinics for diabetes, asthma and travel advice.

Practice Nurses
Marion Baker Lead Specialist Practice Nurse – full time
Marion has taken over the roles as Senior Nurse. In addition to general nursing, Marion is the Team Leader for the Practice Nurses and manages our Diabetic Clinics, Smoking Cessation Clinics, COPD, Asthma and Travel Clinics.
Marion trains other practice nurses in cytology and is a NVQ assessor.
Sara Crabb SRN works 20 hours per week
Sara provides general nursing care, including childhood immunisations and cervical cytology. She is presently training in asthma management.
Denise Orton RGN works 20 hours per week
Denise provides general nursing care, including childhood immunisations and cervical cytology. She shares the management of diabetes patients with Marion.
Phlebotomy
The practice has a health care assistant who is available, by appointment, to take blood samples, blood pressure readings and a range of other tests at the doctors’ request.
To free our trained nurses we have employed two health care assistants, Alison Thorne and Karen Roberts.
Community Nurses
A community nurse team, employed by Somerset Primary Care Trust, is based at the health centre. The team can be contacted by ringing the health centre (TAUNTON 331381 Ext 247).
