What can it have been about this sort of time last year? I feel a bit like Bill Oddy on Spring Watch….. we have no less than four sets of twins! Six out of the eight babies came for a ‘gathering’ at the surgery on 14th May. They cooed and gurgled delightfully.I hope that the mums enjoyed meeting each other too, and will go on to meet up with other twin parents via the local Tamba group. Those babies, and some others of appropriate age are coming next week to explore the joys of weaning. Best advice to the parents is to wear swimwear and a shower cap, as it always can be a messy business! The advice has changed over the years and it can be a little confusing for new parents to be reminded of how and when we used to do it. In line with research findings we are recommending that babies wait a little longer these days before swiping the food off their parent’s plate; preferably until around five months! We continue to have lots of customers at our weekly clinic here at Blackbrook, and in the Autumn hope that we will be able to make more use of Acorns Children’s Centre. Keep well, and do not forget to apply plenty of sun cream as we get into the scorching summer that we have been promised. Kate Gates, Health Visitor |
